Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Universal Construction collects through this website, how that information is used and protected, and how to contact the Company about it.
Effective date: October 2026
Who this policy applies to
This website is operated by 651432 B.C. Ltd., doing business as Universal Construction (the “Company”), a civil construction and gravel supply company in Chilliwack, British Columbia. This policy covers personal information collected through the website and through phone and email contact with the Company, and follows British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (“PIPA”).
Personal information the Company collects
The Company collects only the personal information that visitors choose to provide. The site can be browsed without giving a name or any contact details.
General Contact Form
Used for quotes and general questions. It asks for a name and phone number, on some pages an email address and a site location (address or city), and a description of the job, such as what the work is, where it is, and when it is needed.
Gravel Order Form
Used to request a gravel delivery. It asks for the material, the quantity (“How much?”), the delivery city, a name, a phone number, and any other details about the job.
Job Application Form
Used to apply for work. It asks for the position and start date, full name, phone number, email address, town of residence, years in construction, driver’s licence class, tickets and equipment, a description of the applicant’s last job, and a link to a resume or portfolio (such as Google Drive or LinkedIn), which the Company opens to review the application. Two items are optional: how the applicant heard about the Company, and a checkbox confirming that the applicant follows Universal Construction on LinkedIn.
Phone and email
When someone calls or emails the Company, the Company keeps the details needed to respond, such as the person’s name, phone number, email address, and the nature of the request.
How personal information is used
Personal information is used only for the purpose it was provided for:
responding to quote requests and questions, and pricing and planning the work;
arranging and delivering gravel orders;
reviewing job applications and contacting applicants;
keeping the records needed to complete the work and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
The Company does not sell, rent or trade personal information.
Cookies and analytics
The website uses cookies and similar technologies to understand how the site is used and to measure the Company’s advertising. These tools record details of a visit, such as pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location based on the IP address, and how the visitor arrived. The Company reviews this information in aggregate and does not use it to identify visitors by name.
Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4
Google Tag Manager loads the tools listed on this page. Google Analytics 4 produces anonymous usage statistics, such as the number of visits, the pages people view, and how many visits lead to a quote request or phone call. Visitors can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Meta Pixel
The Meta Pixel helps the Company measure and improve its advertising on Facebook and Instagram, for example by showing how many people visited the site or sent a request after seeing an ad. Visitors can manage how Meta uses this information in their Meta ad preferences.
Microsoft Clarity
Microsoft Clarity creates session recordings and heatmaps of anonymous visits, showing how visitors scroll, click and move through the pages, so the Company can find and fix parts of the site that are hard to use. Form field contents are masked, so what a visitor types into a form is not captured. Microsoft explains its handling of this data in the Microsoft privacy statement.
Most browsers also allow cookies to be blocked or deleted in their settings. The site and its forms remain usable with cookies blocked.
Service providers
Service providers process personal information on the Company’s behalf, and only to provide their services:
the provider that hosts this website and its forms, and the email and office services used to receive and answer form submissions;
Google, Meta and Microsoft, for the analytics and advertising tools described above.
Some of these providers store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
How long information is kept
Personal information is kept only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires (for example, for tax and accounting records). Information used to make a decision about a person, such as a hiring decision, is kept for at least one year after that decision, as PIPA requires. Information that is no longer needed is securely deleted or destroyed.
How information is protected
The Company uses reasonable security arrangements to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure or disposal. Access is limited to the people who need it to respond to a request or manage the work, and the website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Access and correction
Under PIPA, individuals may ask for access to the personal information the Company holds about them, how it has been used, and to whom it has been disclosed. They may also ask for corrections to information that is inaccurate or incomplete, and may withdraw consent on reasonable notice, subject to legal or contractual limits.
How to make a request
Requests can be made to the Company’s privacy contact by phone at (604) 858-8618 or in writing through the contact form, describing the information the request relates to. The Company may ask for details to confirm identity before releasing information, and will respond within the time limits set by PIPA.
If a concern is not resolved, individuals may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
